Up for sale in an auction with only 2 1/2 days to go is this rare Sunburst dial Automatic Electric candlestick.

It started 4 days ago at $199.99 and is now up to $517.59 with 5 bidders and 11 bids. I would think this auction is now in it's quiet period (no bids until it ends) so the question is, how high will it go when it ends on Sunday morning?

Seller listed it as a "Hard to Find Automatic Electric Sunburst Dial Nickle Candle Stick" and claims "This is in very used shape. Dial has an extra lever. It did spin and then I heard a resetting sound?? Sorry... I have no knowledge at all on these old sticks. I know the sunburst dial is sought after. Wood base. Looks to be original, not sure on the receiver. Both the receiver and mouth piece have chips in the bakelite. This is sold as a non working phone!"

It's a short auction from this point in time so try to get your guesses in by Saturday evening.

Terry....where it is mine, I feel a guess would not be appropriate. Off the record, $1300 is what I "hoped" for when listing it.

I do not have a Sunburst dial and this was a tough decision to sell. I felt it was not a refurb that I could do justice to, although Dennis (dencins) did come to mind.

If I did keep this, I would have to sleep with one eye open. Blondie would not be happy as this is her find. Begrudgingly..... she did let me keep a Leich and North stick as well as the Donut phone, so I really cannot complain at all with my wonderful wife.

Doesn't John to a magnificent job with these Auction games
. A lot of work goes into it. I think we should all applaud our new Auction Master......Doug

I can't help agreeing with your logic to sell it Doug. I have the opportunity coming up to finally get a Strowger 11 Digit Stick to add to my collection. It will be in around the low end of the range that these commonly sell at. However, I just don't see myself getting that much enjoyment out of owning it plus I almost think I might worry that it (like wooden phones) will actually depreciate while I own it.

I also can't help agreeing with you about John. He took on the role to look after the auction contests after he carefully thought it through and it is obvious that he is a very organized person and that he thoroughly enjoys doing this based on the amount of work he puts into each and every auction.

Thanks again John!

Now, thinking about the item, the bidders and then looking at the bid list to see where there is space to plug a bid into the list...I see a big hole at exactly $1300 so it looks as though I will be Doug's "silent bidder....err silent guesser". $1300.00.

Since I sort of block out other bids between $1200-$1300 and $1300-$1400, I don't mind if I get crowded a bit after the fact. New guesses can maybe stay a bit further away from the $1200 and $1400 existing bids and a little closer to my $1300 bid.

I'd make the seller knock off $500 because of the cracked receiver! ;)
