Post your "Finds of the Month" for August 2013 here.

"Finds of the Month" are items that you acquired this month that you are particulatly excited about either because of its rarity, the difficulty you had in trying to find one for your collection or the exceptional "deal" you got on it etc.

Terry

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We had so many entries this month and are currently in a tie, I have decided to now take the top 5 "finds" and have a run off poll to ultimately declare a winner. Below are the results of the first poll and now the Poll will e reset and I will ask everyone to do the final vote. Thanks for sticking with us everyone, just trying new ideas etc.

Well, folks, I think that I will start off this month's proceedings with my newly found & restored Northern Electric 500 Q3A. The 500Q/554Q series were the only local-battery 500 type sets ever produced. They were made in Canada, for use on the many rural local-battery lines that still existed there in the 1960's. I have been interested in this series since I first learned of it, and subsequently searched for one for over 10 years! Finally, after joining this forum, I found that a member had one that he wished to sell. I then obtained the correct generator from a different source!

I consider it a personal victory that I've finally obtained one.

Thanks for the info on the 80E!  There is a local electronic shop here in Huntsville, AL that is going out of business.  I saw a glimpse of this phone on a local news cast about Mock Electronics going out of business sale and decided I better be there early because I knew hundreds of people would be waiting in line for it :)  Anyways I get there the next morning and they were close (not open on Saturday).  I went back on monday and picked it up for $10.  There are 2 more still there.  I may go back and pick them up just to save them from the thrift store or where ever they end up after the place closes.  They are all NOS and I have the manual.  I'll scan the manual and post it.

I got this one from a friend.

Telefonbau und Normalzeit or T&N S1a-112/114 I
This one has been hanging in a storage room for decades, looks, and probably are almost unused.

Never seen this version before, and I don't think it has been connected to the public network.

If you know anything about this one please give me a hint.  (my guess is dating from about 1970)

For what it's worth, I will nominate my Argentinian ENTel "Antwerp" phone in white/ivory plastic which cost a total of $41: ebay link.  The color is actually slightly yellower than the picture makes it look.

I bought a WE B-1 at an antiques mall for $95.  It has a 4H dial, which alone is worth $70 (on eBay).  It has been factory repainted and the original brown cloth cords replaced with rubber ones.  Nonetheless it is in excellent shape.  No chips or scratches to the handset.  I'd post a pic of it, but I wasn't able to figure out how to do that.  If someone can help me do so, I'd be happy to.
