I have figured out the coding on my AE 80 marked N812W20... The set was refurbished aftermarket (After being dropped from GTE stock by a private refurbishing company.)

The set I have was originally a black hooklatch equipped (N-81), with coiled handset cord (2), with REA metro dial and wiring (W), and a 20 Hz (20) frequency ringer, hence the N812W20 coding.

The private refurbishing company converted it to a N802CSA; "N80200CSA" in GTE long coding.

I don't know why I didn't recognize it earlier; the answer was right in the replies to my posts.

The only reply I don't agree with was the one saying the "2" at the end of the date code could be a "plant code" because it was stated in posts that AE was known to use a MM-YY-D code, and there seems to be more proof to support that than the other-way-around.

If it "turns out" the "2" was a plant code, I can add that to my info.
