Question about dials

I don't have any info other than I saw a German dial box for sale.
It has 2 binding posts on top, and 1 plug jack at the bottom, and a dial...
It seems too small to have any more stuff inside.
My best guess, is it was used on an early German military switchboard.???
it has key hole mounts on one side.
My question...can that dial be used on todays equipment?
I know, broad question. I only know some of these things pulsed at 20 pps, others, were different.
Would it seem likely that it would be usable today, without modification?  ???
I know it would require rewiring but the pps and other differences is what I know nothing about.

This is not much data, but I believe all German  military rotary dials was 10 pps. Typical dials like that had 3 wires, one pulsing, one common, and one shunting.  WWii dials had a third contact set for grounding when dial was out of rest position.

Pictures may help

thanks for the reply. no pics, must have sold???
it was just a small wood box with a silver faced dial.
oh well, so, 10pps will not work well with newer products?
I don't know squat about switching stuff. but have hurd that the 10pps was not happy with newer stuff?
or am I mistaken?
I have been wrong before... :o
I read posts here every day, trying to understand how this all fits together, and just when I think I understand something, I find more info, that changes what I was thinking...so, I keep reading.

Could it look like something on these pictures?

They are extremely valued by collectors.

similar. this one was painted grey, no flash, just a box. shudda bought it anyway...

RB

ok, found and bought it.
it is a ...Antique Vintage Zenith Nach Klinke Rotary Wood Box Phone Germany Parts / Repair
here is a pic

Never seen that before, if it has the same jack as the other WWII stuff a standard stereo plug will work, even when it is slightly to short.

Please keep us updated when you get it or know more about it.

Oh yeah, gonna need wisdom with this.
but it is cool though!
looks maybe like a pre stained wood version of the wide style switchboard?
I think they both attached via keyhole catches on the side?

RB

here is the dial, and wiring.
It appears to be a 10pps dial, but I have been wrong before.
It needs serviced, as it will stick when dialed.
Does anybody know what this is?
and, can it be used on today's equipment?
if not, what did it work with? and is there any of it still around? or a converter?
The cord jack requires a plug with a 1/8" longer sleeve part than
a standard 1/4 inch stereo phono jack, "which I am using on my board".
Are there any of these plugs around? or a compatible substitute?

dsk

Obviously a rare product. Special made for...???
The dial looks OK, A little oil may be whats needed, but only in the bearings and on the gear, and just a little less than possible  ;D
Then I will guess the dial will be better, if it uses 1-1.2 seconds to return from 0 it is a 10 pps dial, and will probably work where other rotary telephones work. I had expected a holding coil, and some capacitors inside, but I see none. It may probably be used together with a US field telephone like EE8 or newer.

Thanks for the reply. I tried a little oil on the worm turner, but I think the stick is below, inside where I can't get to.
is there anyone that services dials? I think I hurd of someone, but have slept since then...
