I have several wall mounted phones, including the one pictured below.

I have not been able to hook any of  them up with a jack. They just won't click
into the sliding receptacle. It's like a piece is missing. I need help with this.

Are you using something similar to this wall jack? They were designed to work with a jack like this and not much else. They don't "click" because there is no tab to click like on a modular mounting cord. I have in a pinch used a double-female modular connector to quickly test a wall phone like this. But it won't stay connected without holding it on.

The way you get it to mount to a wall jack is to first get the plug part in the jack and then move the entire phone up until the two mounting posts engage and then you pull it down until it stops. Not always an easy task, but you'll get the hang of it, I'm sure.

They still make these wall jacks. Check your local Home Depot or mom and pop hardware store.

I believe the wall jack photo is upside down.

Not my picture. That's how I found it in a google search and I thought maybe it was upside down. Here it is right side up, to please Dave.

I still can't see how to connect the wall jack to the blue receptacle
in the phone. They are both female and the one in the phone is
open with no structure to receive a male end. I have a short double
ended male wire, but if I try to put it into the phone, it falls out. There
is something missing. Do you know what that could be?

I thought that is why those short 6-inch or 8-inch long modular cords are being sold, with 6P2C or 6P4C connectors on each end.
IIRC, in contrast to normal line cords, these are wired straight through, rather than crossed.

The part sticking out of your blue connector should fit right into the wall plate, you might have to lift it up, then when the tabs lock in it should hold.

OK, thanks for the advice. I'm beginning to see how the thing
works. I'm off to Radio Shack to see if they have one of those
wall jack plates.
