OK, maybe being a Non-Telco guy and not being of retirement age yet this is something I should not recognize. Anyone? I do not think they are fuses but.......what are they ???
Whatever they are they are "Antique" and "Rare" according to the seller ;D

Well, they are not fused, I think. They are soldered to the rack. That wouldn't be practical for fuses. Immagine needing to change one, after it is blown. Besides, only one end has wires. Cilindrical are connected at both ends. At least the ones I've seen. (But that is by no means all there is).

The look a bit like circuit breakers.

Heat coils off a main distrubation frame.Work like circuitm breakers. Excess current heats them up amd they open. You can reset them when the trouble was cleared. Have an old telephone co bill and it states if bill not paid, heat coils will be pulled

G-Man

Definitely NOT heat coils and NOT resettable.

Western Electric fuses mounted on a central office or pbx protector strip*. They are NOT soldered-in; instead they are removable by using your can-wrench to loosen the 7/16" nut on the fuse.

We used to stock several thousand of them in our Central Offices in the event of a lightning strike or power cross.

:D Yes, you´re right Bill. That is actually the first thing that went through my head, when I saw the pics.

Lets put a large amount of current through them and see what happens. I thing 31st of december would be a good moment to do that. About 23.59 hrs?
