Never ceases to amaze me what Western Electric produced.
Probably for the operators to clip on the side of their stools.

In my opinion it might be over priced for a "go with" item, but others may see the value. It certainly is a very uncommon item.

Actually it was a very common item since they were mounted on both pbx and central office operator's chairs.

Their numbers would have run into the hundreds of thousands if not more.

Further-

This was mounted on a pbx operator's chair since it is painted a kinda turquoise.

PBX chairs owned by the Bell System and located on the customers premise were painted this color so they would not be pilfered or that question as to who owned them.
