came across this on Ebay. its described as a "Howler" assembly. what was this originally for? did it have more to it then is shown? was it part of a switchboard or something? is it worth bidding on or just another piece of junk.....

I believe this was used by wire chief or testboard in Stromberg-Carlson X-Y central office. Placing Howler Tone on a line, in order to get subscriber to replace the receiver on hook, was only one of its functions.

Interesting.... does anyone have any pics of what it was suppose to look like in service??
