Trimline questions

I recently bought a trimline. My problem is that I got no dial tone when I lift the handset but when I turn the dial, dial tone comes in? hmmm....., anybody encountered this?

Ramil:

Take the base apart and check for dirty contacts in the hook switch. Pressing the hook switch or the handset switch repeatedly may help restore a dirty contact too.
