Title: Gray or not?
Post by: HarrySmith on April 12, 2015, 08:27:09 PM
A fellow collector just purchased this payphone and had some questions. I am not an expert so I told him I would get the opinion of some better qualified than me. Please take a look and let me know what you think. I already have my opinion but as already stated I know nothing about Gray Paystations!

The only part I can tell is Grey is the coin vault. Coin track is off an AE handset type pay station. The upper housing is an older one that allows the gongs to be mounted seperate from the coin track.
No guts visible on back .Transfer contacts appear to be WE pattern ,Not AE pattern.Dont know which Grey used. Coin gauge is not the earlier cast one.I think ths set might be one of the 50 series rebuilt by Rochester telephone to a 150gj-55b set and converted back with newer parts
