Have you ever seen a Western Electric 5K Dial??

I have never seen a WE 5K dial? Looks like it was for a payphone with the curved finger stop. Definitely a cool looking dial.....Doug

Hi Doug:

Generally dials with the curved finger stop were used on switchboard turrets. I am curious - does it seem to dial at, or at a faster than normal rate?

     I have two 5K dials , both were on 18B (or 17C) toll test boards in central offices. Both have slightly thicker than average metal finger wheels and they appear to be faster than other 5 type dials but not quit 20PPS and have curved finger wheels. Both have a 52D adapter to mount to switchboard turrets. I seem to recollect that these dials were also used on PBX switchboards with plastic finger wheels. I think there is a BSP that mentions them on "toll test boards".
