Here we have a GPO 162 selling for over £800!!!

A standard version of this would usually sell for about £60 in good condition.
Add the crested drawer and we would be at about £160 on a good day.
So why in excess of £800 - it's the dial.
If you look carefully you can just see some words above some of the numbers - this is a Brighton dial, and rare does not come into it!
More details of this ultra-rare and sought after thing are at - http://www.britishtelephones.com/dialbrighton.htm

The seller clearly did not know what he had and this was confirmed when I messaged him near the end of the auction.
He said he thought the dial was a bit unusual, but didn't realise how significant it was.

So, yes, someone has effectively paid nearly £700 just for that dial (not me I hasten to add).
Wow!!!!!

i remember hearing about this interesting dial, and searching for 'brighton', found this..............forum link.

could you post a link to the ebay sale pls?

A bit pricey for many of us, but at least it's likely the rarity is appreciated and the buyer will look after it, instead of turning it into a table lamp ;-)

I imagine the seller will be quite happy too.
