I know this is not from "the web" per-say but thought it an interesting tidbit to share.

The other I was traveling the PA turnpike, and somehow managed to confuse their ticket machine on one of their I-476 interchanges. Green light, no ticket.....ok..... Didn't want to pay the max fee for no ticket when I exited, so I rang PenDOT.

I got an automated system (no shock there), which ran through a long list of menu options covering every digit and then some. At the end, the final announced, net was "if you are using a rotary phone, please stay on the line to be connected to an operator." I wonder how many systems still contain this?

I make asterisk IVRs quite regularly. I always suggest to the clients that after they hear the menu the first time and do not make a selection that they get transferred to a default destination. Not only for rotary phones but they can be on a misconfigured VoIP line which inhibits DTMF

Anyone who hangs up on a caller for not making a selection is an IDIOT.
