This sold on the bay for just over £38 plus shipping. An odd combination but sort of cute. Put together by an individual or a company?

Base and stem look like a cut down GPO candlestick, dial looks AE, cradle/handset (incomplete) looks French.

Any guesses?

This version, with stand, sold for a little more....  :o

Schematic on base shows different handset to that which is on this phone.
Bet the seller is over the moon if this sale completes, price started at £5.

frankenphone    Is the handset the same maker. Is a D1 with an F1 handset a frankenphone? Not a big fan of the term. Good ole Frank was a mixture of all different parts.

Different makers is a more friendly term.

Anyway $787 US is a great deal for seller...Doug

FYI apparently it is a RAT phone.
From that name, it reminds me of  RAT RODS from the 50's.
Rat rod sounds cooler than Franken Rod.

RatCo is the Relay Automatic Telephone Co.

They made an all relay exchange that probably inspired North Electric Co.

Attached are some pictures of this and some earlier phones.

I like the mottled set. I could sneak it in with my swirl sets and the wife would never notice.

The latest one to do the rounds. A brassy version.

The last one shown has a No 10 dial. RATCo started with its own dials but later used others - sometimes re-branded.

They certainly look like No 10 dials to me.
I think whoever got them got a decent deal, as I expect if they had been better listed they would have gone for more.
I would have loved to buy them, but I had set myself a maximum price and they exceeded it. C'est la vie!

This latest RATCo phone auction ended at £87 (approximately $121) plus postage.

Not in too poor a condition but has a bent cradle, and none functioning (but nice small centred No10) dial (seller believes spring problems).

Am not sure the handset is correct for the phone (seller says the handset is metal). To my eye it doesn't sit right on that cradle. The endcaps are an odd fit too.

I remain fond of these phones (I was lucky enough to win the previously mentioned pair).
