How common are Aluminum D-1s.  I was calculating postage and put a D-1 body that I use as a paperweight onto the scale.  I could not find a loose handset in the immediate area so I weighed the D-1/F-1 that I use as a doorstop instead.  Interestingly, THEY BOTH WEIGH THE SAME!!!  Both are stripped, so I could compare the two.  The heavy one is gray and the other is aluminum.

Thanks.  These were both re-paints, one was painted green and the other one blue.  I think the aluminum one had a white wool base and a brown seamless E-1 handset, the zinc one had an F-1.

the white felt base and brown handset would have been an origional painted colored set

Sarge...Brown Bakelite E1s are really cool. Did yours come with seamless caps as well. Mine are seamed. I have never seen a brown bullet transmitter, was yours brown? If it had the screen was that brown, mine is black,,,,thanks,,,,Doug

Seamed caps, no bullet, black screen.  Mine was marbled with red swirls in it.  I sold it a while ago.
