Straightening straight handset cords

Has any one found a good way to do this? I have 2 I need to do.

If you look at how to restore curly cords (I think Dan/P posted a lot on this) you will see how using a 1/2 inch dowel rod will reset the memory of the plastic. I would think pulling the cords straight and tieing them straight and using the oven method will "retrain them"

My preferred method is to clean them really well, then coat them with something like F-21 & hang them by the base restraint with the handset attached for at least a week.  This works really well if the handset is a F1 or G1--they are very weighty.
