Bell System Wings

I recently pick this up on eBay. It's about 1.5 inches across. It is marked with the makers mark and 10K though from the wear I'd say gold filed. It is all one piece. Due to it's size I'd say it's a tie tack and/or worn on the jacket lapel. Miniature pilot wings? Since it has the '39 logo that would indicate usage in the 1940s or 50s. A mega corporation like AT&T may have had company planes at that time?
