Title: What is it?

I was digging through some old boxes in the basement today and found something interesting.  I found a modular "G36" handset, outside looks normal except for the G36 stamped in the handle. Internally it looks like G6 components, except no volume wheel.  The transmitter is odd too. Help.

My guess would be an amplified hand set with a fixed setting.  I'd be hooking it up to find out.
