The advantage to SOAG, it replaces some of the flexibility to the rubber wires, helps prevent cracking, where heat can add to the cracking, especially if the cord is under a stretch condition. Take an old cord and remove the cover and try one of the wires by itself and see the difference. It cleans the wire, softens the wire, and brings back a brighter color. D/P
