Hi All - Thanks for the replies to my previous post earlier in the month.

I have had another look and gone round it again with my trusted multi-meter.

Firstly the electrical output directly from the magneto unit is still well below 1.0V, going from positive to negative.
What reading should I be getting?

Secondly the continuity between the two output terminals directly from the magneto unit is positive. Everything is positive between all metal surfaces.
Is this normal?

Thirdly the magnets still seem to me to be pretty weak.
Is there any way of re magnetizing them at home or is there anywhere that I could send them to be done?

Thanks
Mark

Have you made sure the multimeter is set to AC voltage? The magneto should put out >60 V AC when cranked at normal speed.
The magnets may get weak, but other malfunctions are more frequent, like oxidized contacts or isolation problems in the switch gear or armature.
Across the armature you should measure a resistance - not sure how many Ohms exactly, but not zero or infinite.
