I just picked up an 804 metal desktop magneto phone and want to pull the cover and see inside. How do you get the crank handle off so the cover will come off?

For most magneto phones, you crank the crank quickly backwards to unscrew it.

Thank-you  It worked and it reads FTR801A inside.

My mistake the magneto is 801. The wiring diagram (which is still in there) is FTR804CW

By cracky, he's right!  Just don't crank the crank when you're cranky!
The idea that a four-year degree is the only path to worthwhile knowledge is insane.
