Ultrasonic cleaning

I just received an ultrasonic cleaner I bought on e-Bay.  42,000 Hz.  I ran my watch band through, and wow!  What a bunch of crud came off.  I am looking forward to trying it out on some actual phone parts in the near term.  I just read the instructions cover-to-cover.  Not very complex....pretty simple, actually.

Anyone have any hints to pass along as to what to do or not to do?  The stainless steel tank holds about a pint, and they say to use either plain water or mix in some detergent.  For the watch band, I used warm water and mixed in about a glug of Windex.  That seems to have worked rather well.  I also cleaned a lucite clear finger wheel and a receiver cap.  Seems simple enough.

One thing you can do to test it to make sure it still works effectively is to put a piece of aluminum foil in it about every 3 months. If it is working properly, the foil will look like the surface of an orange(all pitted and rough). Try it now and you will see what I mean.

We use this to test my dental unteasonic cleaner.

Phonesrfun,
I use warm water and dawn dishwashing liquid in mine and it does a great job on carburetors off weedeaters and chainsaws.  They come out nice and shiny.
I haven't had time to put a dial in yet but would think it would do the same job.  My cleaner is still out in the shop ,  I guess I'll have to get another one for the house!!!   Enjoy.    stub
