I thought you all might enjoy following this auction. It's the red phone from my collection that was recently ousted by an earlier example with gray cords that I won on ebay. My friend Jorge had first dibs but he passed on it. I think, like me, he likes doing the restoration work himself (and lovely work he does too!). So let's see how this one ends up:

It looks very pretty. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
No llores, amigo mio, place your bid! ;D
Clearly this phone is just cluttering up your place, so I will offer to take it off your hands to free up room. Just send it to me, and D/P will reimburse you for shipping. ;) ;)
It's a sweet sweet phone, I've never seen anything like this in person, never seen a soft plastic 500 in color. Hopefully when I go to the phone show in San Jose next month I can see some soft plastic in color.
This is where D/P says B/S. :o
D/P
WOW :o :o :o
Jorge;
Just curious, you have a better example of that phone for your pewrsonal collection, or don't collect that type ?
D/P
D/P:
I have two red WE500s, just like the one from finlover, with manufacturing dates that correspond to my brother and sister birth dates. Then there is the red with the gray curly handset cord. And one more like Dennis' birthday phone, with a gray straight handset cord.
I have a phone I bought from finlover about three years ago. He does very good work and wouldn't mind having another one.
But five WE500 red phones in a household would be too many. Right? ;D ;D ;D

Finlover;
Do you have a better example for your collection ?
Do you have a time machine or something similar, are you in Kahoots with the dark side.
D/P
D/P:
finlover should take a few pictures of his collection and post them here.

Yes! I found an earlier red '55 with gray cords. It's in the works right now and I'll post some pix when I'm done...I mean after I've taken it for a spin in my satanic time machine ;)

I will do that, sir!
Oh WOW! That phone is very nice. I bet you get a nice price for it. :)
Thanks, Tom!
I'm hoping for close to 3 bills, but we'll see...
When I first started doing this, a red '57 500 I had only brought $59, but it wasn't as nice as this one.
Fin:
Maybe you will get lucky and get $700+ from the same Japanese buyer a couple years ago.
So, what we are saying here is that you can now get about as much for a red '57 500 as you once could for a red '57 Chevy. Times have changed, haven't they?
-Bill
Well, it wound up at $355, which is just fine with me. I forgot that because of daylight savings time the auction ended an hour earlier than I had intended. I can't help but wonder if that affected the outcome...
Anyway, it sold to the same guy that bought my red wall phone through a second chance offer, after the first buyer returned it because it didn't match his mom's wallpaper! Next week I'm listing a white '64 500 in pristine condition (surprise!). Kind of boring, but I have to break up the monotony of red, aqua, turquoise and pink.
:o :D WOW :o :D :)
.......still waiting for that apprenticship to kick in :)...............
Wow, great price. I'd love to get that kind of change for some of mine. Is there some sort of ceremony you do, or a "phone dance" before the item is listed? ;D
Thanks, Jim! Yes, before each auction I put on a headdress fashioned from handset cords and then do a roller disco routine to "Ring My Bell". Works for me!
I knew it !, I knew it !, there had to be some kind of VOO DOO involved someplace.
I'm there, the next auction I post, I'm going to do a naked rain dance in my backyard, with a soft plastic 500 case on my head like a hat, and play "Macho Man" in the background.
D/P
d/p... i hope that works out for you.........but no videos please :)

Nice finish finlover on a beautiful phone.
Dang, I was using BEechwood 4-5789. Maybe that was the problem?
