I found this interesting story while searching for something else. It is from 2011.

Lovely character in some of those rooms (I would like to see photos of the same rooms when in use for side by side comparison). Always fascinating yet sad to see these lovely old buildings empty, but glad to read it's not being demolished.

I wonder if there is any telephone stuff left in there?

it is amazing, how much other stuff you find while searching for something else...

What a novel idea, to turn this  old building into something so useful.
Instead of tearing it down.

Headquarters for Michigan Bell. The Yellow Pages sign has been removed. There is a You Tube video where someone went through the building with a camcorder. Rooms where completely empty. Sadly many historic buildings in Detroit are empty. Google or search You Tube "abandoned buildings Detroit"

Couldn't find the clip of the empty building but some other clips up, showing the building now it's had it's refurb. Looks like they have done a lovely job of it, and for a good cause too.
