Here is the dial pulse version (no * or # buttons, but has redial button).

I remember seeing these for sale in stores in the 1980s.  The only color I ever saw was the almond/ivory color.  They did not appeal to me because I thought the linear arrangement would be awkward to dial.

It is interesting that this appears to have true tone dialing, with the * and # keys.  Many (probably most) "electronic" push-button phones of that era generated dial pulses instead of DTMF tones.  They could be advertised as "push button dialing even on rotary dial lines!  No extra fees!".  I suspected that it was just cheaper to make them that way.  Opening and closing a contact must have required cheaper, less complicated circuitry than generating tones.

Problem is that we are so accustomed to the typical touchtone dial that itakes morefforto dial the numbers when in a row.

To ensure an emergent transport call, I need only:
- take first sip of beer when eating pizza
- start shampooing in the shower
- pull bed covers over and get warm and cozy
- begin my OCD oil change.  (Remove oil plug to drain overnight.)

On our grand piano is a black grand piano telephone where the white piano keys are the numbers.
C and D sharp are |*| and |#|
Since we rarely use ito dial out, it takes longer.
When the phone is hung up, its keys also play notes. (Powered by 2 AA batteries)  Funny thathe musical scale is a half-step flat: A = G#

I would like to see both of those. Any photos?

Nothing is allowed on our grand piano - not even dust.  ;D

If one were to dial 11 pulses or 12 pulses, would the modern electronic telephone system read it?
(I assume the old step relays (please correct name) were 10 position.)
