New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

Listed about a day and a half ago in a 7 day auction with no reserve and starting at $1.00 ( with thanks to WEBellSystemChristian for the tip ) is a very interesting first for the CRPF Auction Contests, a 10 button card dialer from 1965.  The seller provided only external pictures but it shows the phone to be in good condition. Since being listed, the phone has received 11 bids from 4 buyers driving the price up to $33.00. It should go higher but the question is how high. Being a first time phone in the contests, and a phone not seen that often on eBay, the question really is who best knows what this phone will sell for when the auction ends?

NOTE:  We will use a $5 gap rule between guesses to prevent crowding. As such, keep your guess at least $5 away from prior guesses for this contest. All guesses, original and a single allowed revised guess if needed, must be submitted at least 24 hours before the auction ends.

The seller listed it as an "10 button Western Electric green card dialer telephone" with the item condition as "Used" and " - - -  " and with the auction listing description saying simply "Green Bell System card dialer. Untested.Been in storage for years. 10 button. "

It's another chance to move up a rung or to get onto the CRPF -> Contest Standings <- list,

. . . for as twocvbloke said,   ---> "You gotta be in it to win it !!!" ;D "

A Trifecta here for WEBellSystemChristian who suggested the contest phone, placed the first guess and won the contest. As such, the winner of Auction Contest #277 is WEBellSystemChristian who with the 1st entry into the contest offered the winning guess of $550.00 which gave him his 11th auction contest win. So, congratulations to WEBellSystemChristian for another win in the CRPF Auction Contests and for moving up one rung in the Contest Standings.

The phone was won by c***o (4204 ) who with his first and only bid of the auction, a snipe placed 4 seconds before it ended, was high enough to over bid another snipe placed placed with 5 seconds to go to take the phone home for $592.88. The auction saw 12 bidders place 29 bids.

Thanks again to all who played. As always, there is only one way to get on the winner's board or move up a rung - you have to play to win. Maybe the next contest will be a bit more interesting.
