I'm not sure where to ask this, but I have noticed that the text in some of the threads seems to disappear off the right side of the screen, with no way to read it. It seems to only happen in Firefox. I have attached a screenshot to show the effect.

The same thing is happenning occasionally with my Internet Explorer 7.

I've discussed this with Mark Stevens in the past.  He figured out that when someone puts a lengthy eBay link on the page, it causes this problem.  I too use Firefox and I noticed when I tried looking at the problem page with either Firefox or Internet Explorer it does this.  The answer is to shorten the links when people post them.  You may have noticed that when I put a link that I know is going to be wider than the page, I go to tinyurl.com.  All that has to be done is to cut and paste the original URL into a box, hit a button and you will be given a shorter url.  You can then cut and paste that url here and the problem will not occur.  I can't tell Perry by your screen shot if the problem included an eBay url/link but I'll bet it did.

I believe the software for this forum limits the photo size to 1200.  I do not know however if it re-sizes the images as they are uploaded or each person must be aware of the image size prior to uploading.

That screen capture was from this thread:

It does not have an eBay URL, but there is a long Google maps URL.

So Perry, is it still like that?  I just went there with Firefox and it looked OK.  I tried shrinking my window size down, and I had to get it really small before it went haywire.  If it's still acting goofy, what screen resolution are you set to?

Perry

That thread looks normal to me now. The computer that I was using for the screen capture has a screen resolution of 1280x1020.

PSGreg

I seem to have this problem as well.  I spent the last couple of days checking all my settings but can not correct it.  In fact this entire thread shows the same way.  The last inch or so, of screen is missing.  I can't toggle over to it.  Does this particular thread look the same to other members too?
Best,

This thread looks normal to me, and I've not had one do the funny size thing for a while now.  I never adjusted anything on my computer, it just quit being a problem one day for some reason.

This thread looks normal to me (at the moment), but this one has the text off the edge of the page:

The problem does seem to be related to a long eBay URL again.

I just fixed that one, Perry. Y'all let me know if there's any more of those long URL's messing things up. And to anyone not hep to it yet, if you're going to post a link to eBay or Google that has one of those crazy-long URL's, go to http://www.tinyurl.com! You just paste the long address into a box and it converts it into a short one that won't bugger up the forum...it's slick!

Perry

I've noticed that some of the auction threads have the eBay URL linked to a short description, like this one:
http://www.classicrotaryphones.com/forum/index.php?topic=351.0

How is that done? I know how to do it in HTML, but it doesn't seem to work in forum posts.

I think it's the same thing as in HTML, but you use [ ] regular brackets instead of < > angled brackets (or whatever those are called).
