Dear Group:

I have a Japanese DO-8 cradlephone where the line cord is soldered in, and was terminated in a 4-prong plug.

The conductors are red, green and black in the line cord; I want to replace the line cord with a spade to modular type I can change to solder it in... What are the proper connections to make to the solder points?

I also noted the black line wire is soldered to the ringer coil.

If anyone is familiar with this, and can give advice/instructions with this DO-8 phone, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

Aren't there any markings as to which is which? Have you looked inside the plug? Often there are markings of letters inside it.

If you are referring to the model which I think you are, and the wires have been connected according to the diagram, red is L1, white is L2, and black goes to the ringer.  The black and white wires would normally be connected together so that the ringer would work.
