Title: Different type of ringer on/off switch

Just saw this on ebay, very different ringer switch. Would like to see the inside!

Looks like a uneven cut hole in casing, maybe its aftermarket? I wouldn't think bell would do that.. Here is another reason why I think its aftermarket, its just marked as a average 500 set.

It looks kind of like the choke on an older car, you sure it's not got an engine under the bonnet there? :D

I think choke handles have a large diameter pull on it... Though I agree with you, it shouldn't be their.

I don't see the similarity, is there a switch on the telephone in your photo?

Seller says: ". . . never seen one with a switch on the front like this. pull it and the ringer goes off."

Doesn't that mean that when the switch is pulled, the phone begins to ring?  :)

Push it and it stops?

I know, can't work that way, but, just sayin' . . . and that is what the seller said.
