Condition Qualifier:  " the cord need the plug rewired otherwise seems to be in great condition, on the bottom edges theres some light chipping overall light wear, nice! clean! "

Listing Description:  "Antique telephone very deco maybe 30's -- heavy base black & red with chrome details -- original number written in 2021 on pretty black & white deco plate in the front -- the cord is original braided heavyweight material -- black part is bakelight -- the cord needs a new plug -- I don't see any names on the phone anywhere. measures: 5" by 6"- 9" black handle"

On Nov-14-17 at 15:34:35 PST, seller added the following information:  "I was told it is a Automatic Electric Co monophone from the 1930's -- Most are black and the colors are rare. THIS one has a red body and the black hand piece may have been replaced (bakelight) -- I was asked if it was brown -it is not it is red & it has not been painted."

On Nov-16-17 at 07:47:42 PST, seller added the following information:  "I've added pictures of the inside by request. also the only -- shipping as I mentioned before is on the bottom rubber which has dried and chipped, see photos thanks!"

This is going to be a tough one to guess. I am not certain if this is the very infrequently seen AE Maroon color or not. Seller says it is "red" but if it is the bright "Chinese Red" his camera color is WAY OFF. I'm thinking he means dark red or maybe Maroon? Of course the matching handset is AWOL though the black handset looks nice with it as well.

I saw this one last night. Because of the scratches on the front of the case and the black handset, I assumed it was painted.

Prices for genuine colored AE's being so low lately...$350

It hasn't been ruled that it could be painted however I see no chips showing black Bakelite and I have seen a coloured AE in a similar color before assuming the color in the eBay auction is at least close to accurate.
