Seller Listing Title:  "Western Electric 554 Soft Plastic Rare Dark Gray Telephone-1956 Consistent Dates"
Condition:  "Used"
Condition Qualifier:  " - - - "

Listing Description:  "The telephone is a rare Western Electric soft plastic type A/B 554 Dark Gray wall model.  Western Electric telephone sets were only made in this color for a short period of time before being changed to a lighter gray shade.  This telephone was used in a single north side Chicago location and all components show late 1956 manufacturing dates.  While being sold on an "as is" basis (please review photos carefully), the telephone was tested on 12/10/2017 and produced a dial tone, transmitted voice, and dialed out to remote numbers correctly.  The phone shows no corrosion, cracks, or serious color shift. -- Known defects include light scratches from normal use on all surfaces. This is a "hard wired" telephone and will have to be modified to plug into modular telephone lines.  Adapters and backboards are available online.  It should also be noted that this telephone only works on telephone networks that support pulse dialing. -- Overall, this telephone is in very good condition for it's 61 years and is an excellent collectable."
