I purchased this 554 last night for $99 plus shipping.

At first, I thought this was a black phone with an open center fingerwheel, but I noticed the Gray sheen on the handset and thick coiled cord in the 2nd photo, and immediately bought it. I asked the seller (yes, after I bought it!!!) if they could tell me what color it was. This morning, they responded.

It's Gray!!! ;D

This one especially looks fairly early with the satin switchhook. It also looks to be in great shape, with a perfect fingerwheel. The plastics look untouched as well!!

The auction pictures are very grainy, so it's a little hard to tell how good the condition really is , but I guess the color itself kind of makes up for the phone's conditon. ::)

The seller has assured me that they will pack exactly according to the instructions I sent them. It looks like they're an antique dealer, so they probably know a thing or two about packing delicate items anyway.

I'm going to wait until it arrives to confirm 100% whether it's Gray or not, but for now, things are looking up!

I think it's black.
The seller even told me that the color was in fact Gray. It looks Black in the pictures, but the pictures were taken with a bad camera.

There is a very good chance that it is in fact gray.  A black one of that vintage would likely have had a metal fingerwheel.  Premature congrats on a really great phone!

According to the standard "Adult Film Star" naming conventions I have seen espoused (Street you grew up on + Mother's maiden name, I would be either:

'Elmwood Dailey'

or

'Longhorn Dailey'

Oh Dear, it just gets worse, and worse, doesn't it? :o ;) ;D

Best regards,

I'm due on the set lol!

I always thought Adult Film Star names were created from the name of your first pet plus the name of the street you lived on.

By that logic, my name would be Blackie Wehr...

My Mom's would be Lucky Briarwood...

My Dad's (if you count a pet from before he was born) would be Yodel Ramsey...

At least two of those seem fitting for an adult film star... :o

I dunno,

Perhaps it depends on the type of Adult Films? ;)

Reckon that would make mine Rebel RR#2 lol!
