I have never done it so I do not what is involved but a page or a new board with links to phone related sites would be a good idea. Links to such things as the TCI or Remcos archives are posted almost everyday. Paul F's site is mentioned quite frequently also. I am sure there are a hundred other sites that would be useful, such as Phoneco or Steve Hilz. One place to go for all these things would be quite convienent :)

Indeed, be a handy "menu" for users.
"now this should take five minutes, where's me screwdriver went now..?"

Most forums place a "sticky message" at the top of the forum, and create a single post with all the links, then lock the thread.  Moderators can update the thread to add new links and drop dead links as required.

One of the reasons I mention this is the number of posts we are getting these days, discussed here:
http://www.classicrotaryphones.com/forum/index.php?topic=3514.0
We have more members which is a good thing but I think the number of posts could be cut down by having one place to look for an answer to a particular question. Just a thought being opened for discussion. What do you think?

Harry, it shouldn't be a problem to make a Board for Links.  There would then have to be sub-folders, or sub-topics for individual links subjects.  A list will have to be compiled and then one individual will have to list them under a certain topic, say for example a link to Steve Hilsz for phone parts, dial service, etc.

Like with a lot of forums, topics become redundant when the user or questioner doesn't take the time to search the Forum to see if their question was already discussed/answered.  It's not necessary to physically go through the postings, just search key words in the search area located at the top of the forum header.

There are already several link pages on the internet:

http://www.telefoniemuseum.nl/links/

http://www.telephonecollectors.org/links/links.htm

I would just refer the forum users to these rather than having to maintain my own links section :)

Great idea Remco, thanks.  You just save me a lot of work.  :)
