What is the difference between W E 201 and 211. Did the models overlap?

The 201 uses a C-1 handset mounting which is more rectangular than the G-1 handset mounting used for a 211.

The 201 was the wall version of the 102/202 B-1 round or D-1 oval set and originally had an E-1 handset. The earliest 211s (1936) had E-1s but later had F-1s and even G-1s since they were made until at least 1976. Most have F-1s.
