I got outbid. It was a tough phone to bid on with one pic and a damaged dial, but it did say Fuld on it.

Seller had ZERO Feedback....Oh well...Doug

Wrong handset, too. But still a bargain, provided the seller is legit. Zero feedback is unusual in 2022.

that is why I did't go higher, plus it could have chips and crack everywhere. I did not know the handset was wrong. I was thinking about finding a dial plate  ;)   ...Doug

From the one photo I'm not so sure it is the wrong handset. If the rest is complete then someone got a bargain.

For comparison, handset images as below from this thread:

Last image is a closeup of the auction phone handset.

Agreed. Someone got a bargain.

Thanks for the discussion. Maybe I was a bit overhasty, hollering "wrong handset"  ;D
Several versions of the phone can be found on page 9/10 in the link:
https://wiki.gvit.de/lib/exe/fetch.php?media=endgeraete:die_telefone_des_herrn_fuld.pdf

The earlier handset is uniquely shaped, and has a hemispherical mouthpiece. The later one is more conventional and has a flat spitcup-shaped cap. This style was also used on some "Maingau" models. Looking at the enlarged pic, this one might very well be the later version of the original handset.

Even the shell of the Frankfurt phones is not uniform, there are black painted brass as well as Bakelite versions which are hard to tell apart at first glance.

it was a big IF. I jumped in at the end but original bidder had placed a second bid just before the end of auction. With Taxes and shipping it would have been an $80 gamble and that was the highest gamble I was willing to take. Zero feedback was also a strong consideration. ....Doug
