Strange operator messages

When I was a lad, my brothers and I liked to mess around with our phone, a 70's era touch tone. Sometimes I admit they were crank calls, but sometimes we'd just mess around with the phone, and I recall we'd occasionally get these really odd "operator" voices with strange messages. Can't really recall what they said, but we thought is was a little creepy. So, of course we made a game out of it and kept doing it. Something about the wierd disembodied voice saying strange things was appealing to a kid. I stumbled across a website a while ago that actually had audio clips of recordings from operators, from different phone systems and areas of the country. It brought back some creepy memories.
