Magneto on a 555

Did some checking around and couldn't find anything in the archives. I was curious if anyone was running, or had run, a magneto phone on a 555 (or similar) board. Is there potential for PBX damage if the extension were cranked?

I believe you would connect the magneto phone to a trunk port, since a local battery phone  provides its own talk battery and outgoing ring current.

Someone wrote recently that the ringing keys on both cords send out ring current regardless of whether the cords are connected to a trunk (outside line) or a line (Station). So you should be able to ring the magneto phone.

I haven't tried this at home.
