I went out and bought a "GIFILLLAN" desk radio. Wlee I do not know if they are called a desk radio. It is about a foot long about 5 inches wide and 5 inches high. it has all the parts with it, it just needs a new cord. Can anyone give me any information on the maker and post some pics of one . It has  a red band around the bottom with gold connected triangles. I only bought it because it was 2 dollars any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Kenny,

$2 for an antique radio is quite a bargain.  Does your radio have a model number on it?  Look at http://www.radiomuseum.org/m/gilfillan_usa_en_1.html and see if you can find yours.

Kenny;
Yes those are the tubes, about the same a modern transistors.
Post some photos.
If you are serious about using thge radio it will need to have all of the paper and electrolytic capacitors changed. It may work, but a shorted cap may do very serious, or costly  damage.
That reminds me about my Stepdaughters Boyfriend, he came into my shop, picked up a tube and asked; "What's This."

Here are the schematics. You need to look for the model number

BTW, Google is your best friend for radio IDing, along with this site.

Kenny,

If you don't have a digital camera, try ebay.  My trusty Nikon was damaged in a fall last year.  While I was looking for a replacement, I found an amazing supply of several year old models at bargain prices.  I was able to get a pair of Nikon 2 Megapixel cameras in one auction for about $25 -- including 3 working batteries and a case.  They have a great macro mode and are more than adequate for posting photos.

If there's another issue, perhaps we can offer suggestions.

Your drawings are great, but it would be a challenge to do lots of them.  Photos are really so much simpler and faster.
