Unknown 2" dial

what is this dial used for?  It's about 2" in dia. and spins real nice.  Judging from the condition, it seems to have low mileage.  Cool dial - I'm guessing it is used in a test set?

Western Electric butt set,dont know the number.I have seen these on some test equiptment also

Yes the rubber test sets with the small dial referred to as a "Pin Dial" as it has the pins sticking up that you can use your fingernail to turn. It also has little indents that you can use something like a pen to turn it as well.
