New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

Listed about ten hours ago in a 7 day auction with no reserve and starting at $0.99 is a very nice WE green plastic 302 with an F1 Handset and what seems to be original straight cloth cords in very good condition. The seller provided only external pictures except  for the bottom. This appears to be a solid green handset as well. No corner cracks shown but one side does show a long scratch. Since being listed, the phone has received 4 bids from 4 buyers bumping the price up to $61.00. It will go higher but the question, once again, is who best knows what this phone will sell for when the auction ends?

NOTE:  We will use a $5 gap rule between guesses to prevent crowding. As such, keep your guess at least $5 away from prior guesses for this contest. All guesses, original and a single allowed revised guess if needed, must be submitted at least 24 hours before the auction ends.

The seller listed it as an "Western Electric Bell System Model 302 - Green Bakelite Telephone" with the item condition as "Used" and "In beautiful condition. The dial works so smoothly." and with the auction listing description saying "This is a beautiful phone.  It is a crazy green color that looks to be hard to find.  All buttons (handset cradle buttons) and the dial work smoothly and just sound good and solid.  It has the older, straight cord both on the incoming line and from the base to the handset.  I have not tried to use it as we do not have a home line so I cannot guarantee if it does work.  It does have one scratch on the right side that I tried to show in the last photo.  It is in great over-all shape and I think you will be hard-pressed to find an old phone from the 40's in better shape than this one. I sent a message to the seller asking him to post a picture of the bottom and the handset with the caps open to show the solid green handset, not painted. He did so and the two new pictures have been added to the first post of this auction contest, with the other pictures.

The base is very clean, in good condition. That usually says a lot about the internal condition as well.

US$310.00 is my guess.  I'd pay that for it (not that I could afford it...  right now, anyway...  :D
