I interfaced my key system on line 1 to a bluetooth cellular gateway https://www.amazon.ca/Xtreme-Technologies-BTTN-Bluetooth-Gateway-Black/dp/B0018NWQPK/ref=asc_df_B0018NWQPK/?tag=googleshopc0c-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=292939588547&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17204856437176791429&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9000675&hvtargid=pla-383430106296&psc=1

so you can call out using a cellphone instead of a c/o line.  Line 2 is local intercom using a 207C type dial selector to all antique and 1A2 sets in the house.  Line 3 lamp comes on when the garage door is open.  Line 4 when the floodlights are left on in the back yard.  Line 5 lamp is paralleled on QBX1A buzzers in every set so they light up and buzz when the doorbell rings.  Just try doing that with VOIP!   :-)
Thats awesome, did you run 25 pair all over your house?
You cant beat these key system power supplies, two separate -24V DC outputs, 10VAC and especially with the 30 HZ 105 v ringing output.
There will always be a market for these power supplies at least, nothing beats them for powering a phone collection.

I have thought about making 'open source hardware' KTU line card designs for 1A2 shoe box systems
kinda like what Greg Ercolano's did:
http://seriss.com/people/erco/1a2-multiline-board/
But keep the original power supply and the 'shoe box' for card connections.
There are ~18 pins on a card

It would be pretty easy to make a prototyping card, there are some ~x86 micro controllers that probably could run Linux and Asterisk right off the card.

When I saw that circuit on YouTube, I wished I had that on my house as its so much smaller than even a shoe box is and it's simple plug and play makes it a great alternative to a real shoe box system.

How much are these selling for? I've never seen a price listed any where. That was a great idea on their part to design it and make it available.

I dont know if he sells them as a product, from my understanding its a build it your self electronics project.
I'll probably build one for the fun of it and to learn about it.

I could build one, but sourcing the parts for me could be dificult. I have a C shoe box now and it lives in my shop and I have a phone in the house for intercom that works great.

But I was impressed with the size and design of the board to run everything from a wall wart.
But for those who can't get a KSU or parts to keep it going, that board is a great alternative.

For things like the 118A frequency generator those are hard to locate, brackets to mount them in a B, are impossible to find.

So I was very impressed someone designed a nice tidy board to run those golden sets of years gone by.

I've had electronic systems like 416, the Merlin 408, and others. But it's the 1A2 that shines best in my opinion because so much can be done using those sets. Versus Merlin and such. A 416 could work like the 1A2 but I never really explored those.

Per his site:
[Update: Oct 1, 2019: There is a newer version of this project
http://seriss.com/1a2-ksu/rev-h/
which covers the latest features and progress of this project. I've been selling the assembled boards in small quantities to people who inquire to my email address, erco@seriss.com. Please include "1A2 multiline phone card" as the email subject.]

Yeah agreed and he 'open sourced' the design and the parts list.
I don't think his latest revision has an on board frequency generator that would be fun to add.

Key2871

Yes at first I thought it did, but I read the entire and it does not. I'm surprised because he went through so many revisions I would have thought that would have been one.
Maybe it's not easy to cut the frequency?
I don't know, but he designed it to do everything even sync with a second board, I wouldn't think it would be that hard. Especially for those who dont want buzzers as ringers, and may not have a freq gen to power the ringers.

A device  similar to a Black Magic or PowerDsine  ringing generator would probably work.
I think the basic units are only designed to ring 1 set of bells.

Both companies will produce custom ring generators, and you can order them with different input voltages .
Camblab is a member of the forum. They produce the Black Magic ring generators.
