That is a Northern Electric 500 (or perhaps Northern Telecom, what Northern Electric changed to).  This was the Canada equivalent of Western Electric that supplied equipment to Bell Canada.

That Forum link you posted (the 2nd one) has to be the most obnoxious site there is. It refreshes every 3 to 5 seconds no matter which browser I use, Firefox, Opera or Chrome. Does the same thing happen to others?

Not for me, but I use FF with Adblock Plus and NoScript installed. Gets rid of a lot of annoyances! :-)
