My new question is and for our Dutch members is info on a maker J J Hartman seen on 1940 1950 phone with a handset like my Hee Maff. More info when phone arrives from the US The dial lists Dutch writing brand 16400 huisarts 19019 police no and assume makelaar means maker. Thanking again and will send a picture when it arrives.

Hi Migette, hope you are doing well now.

I do not know of a maker called JJ HArtman. Where did you find that on the telephone? Was it on a sticker or a paper label?

Picture would be nice of course.

What you describe is normally found on promotional stickers on bakelite dials from the 50s and 60s. A local company would have those black circular stickers made with typically the police and fire cervice numbers on them, or the local GP etc and of course their own number. In this case a makelaar, which means broker or in this case more specifically a real estate agent.

Hi Matilo thanks for your comments, the info is on the dial centre and is all in Dutch and looks genuine and old, the set is not one familiar to me or at least the photo and its on its way to me from NY to UK, will fill in other details when arrived, the seller on ebay sold mainly old stuff and has a shop so appears stuff she gets is put on ebay, but I did ask for it to be well wrapped and handset kept padded not to smash against the case.

OK, if I understand you correctly the name JJ Hartman is the name of the makelaar, real estate agent. :-)
