I saw this as it was listed about 24 hours ago in a 5 day auction with no reserve starting at $0.99 and 24 hours later, it has 5 bids from 5 serious bidders. It is sitting at $35 with a 4 full days to go in the eBay auction. It's an interesting item in that it looks complete as built but has refurb dates on the bottom. So, who knows what this phone will sell for in this short auction (less than 3 days of bidding available so get your guess in early).

With the value of this phone being known, generally, Rule #3 will once again be relaxed to 4% so guess gaps of 8+% can be split in half. I'll help with these as the auction go forward and guesses are entered.

The seller listed it as a "Original 1955 Western Electric Red 500 Gray Cords" with the item condition as "Used" and "no defects all original parts dated 1955" and said this is a "Gem for any telephone collection.  Here is an original red 1955 Western Electric "Soft plastic" 500 in amazing condition.  These were only produced in the "soft plastic" or tenite between 1953 and mid 1959, so are hard to come by to begin with. This beauty is dated 1955 throughout the phone down to the cord restraints.  The body shows a date of 11/21/55 with the rest of the pieces dated between 10/55 and 12/55.  There are no cracks or breaks in the phone at all and everything down to the original gray line and handset cord are in amazing condition.  The open fingerwheel still holds the dial card of SWift2-7066. This phone is in total working order and has been cleaned inside and out.  The dial has been serviced so that it turns as easy at it did the day it came out of the factory, almost 60 years ago.  Note that the original 4 prong adapter is on the end of the gray line cord and a newer adapter would be required if you do decide to make it a daily use phone. This is a quality piece for any collection!!!   ".

Still another chance to either move up a rung or to get onto the CRPF -> Contest Standings <- list.

     - - - >  As always, you have to play to win!

New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

As I said above, I will help members as the contest progresses to prevent guess crowding under Rule #3 lowered to 4% for this contest.
