Analog Telephone Adapter Schematics

Dear All,

I have a hobby project to connect computer (PC) audio input/output to a telephone equipment to enable it to make internet phone calls (Skype, VOIP). Could someone give some advice regarding the hardware needed, like components worth using nowadays or schematics? I'm not a telephony expert but tried to do some research. I think, what I'm looking for is called an Analogue Telephone Adapter / Subscriber Line Interface Circuit. Any hints are appreciated.
