I am assuming that this is European (German, Swiss, ???) and from the 1930s.  Can someone enlighten us?

TelePlay

Seems to be missing one gong, and its cover, but am looking forward to someone coming up with its use. Interesting part for only $8.

Looks Danish to me. The gong was actually outside the housing, between the top of the housing and the cradle.

It's the Danish, or KTAS phone.  Not a bad price if you need the parts.  The last couple of complete KYAS phones I purchased were only about $15 plus shipping.   Interesting to note on one of those KTAS phones I recently purchased.  When the TV was on, I could hear the station through the handset, fairly clearly.  i wonder if the signal is being picked up by that coil that's shaped like a TV antenna.

I was expecting something more exotic.  I have never dismantled one of those Danish phones.  Thank you for the answer.
