I didn't even think of that... I would hope 100%, but my guess is it's not even taught anymore since everyone is glued to a cell phone from birth.

In reality I would say Quarter To Five. Thought the British were more likely to say A Quarter Of Five.

Once I retired, I quit looking at clocks. My wife does it for me, she is always saying "Do you know what time it is?" :)

I always give her the same answer, no!  :)

But in saying that, I don't look at a calendar either.  :o

Agreed, more like 17. The angle can mess up your perspective as to what the big hand is closer to 17not quarter to.

In analog speak you round the time to the nearest 5. you use the words till and after and terms like half past
17 is a digital mindset reply,
