I know that Automatic Electric is black.
What color for Stromberg Carlson?
1212 Fatboy, 1222 and 1243 metal phones.
What color for the fancy bakelite Kelloggs?

Are green Receiver cords earlier than the brown ones?

A lot of questions. Thanks in advance=Howard.
(I have been on a cord making binge lately.)

WE used green and rattlesnake red/blue. Later two different shades of brown.

SC 1243 had black cloth over rubber/vinyl/plastic (not sure which).
SC 1212 had same kind of black cords on the later ones. A different color (brown?) on the all cloth ones on earlier 1212a and possibly early 1243s.

I think the Bakelite Kelloggs had brown cords.

Not really.  Western Electric was making both brown and green cords for their black and nickel phones respectively since at least the #10 candlestick.  Green was more popular when nickel was the more popular finish.  When black became more common, the brown cord became more common as well.  Green eventually became obsolete with the demise of nickel as a finish.

#3
The 1908 Western Electric Catalog shows the following cords:

#15---red worsted covering---for 125-W receiver used on 1006 test set--3 ft.
#92---red and blue worsted covering---for receiver on wall set--3 ft
#267---blue linen covering---1314 telephone set--10 feet
#268---blue linen covering---1314 telephone set--104 feet

The other 50 or so cords are all green or "glazed cotton" with no color mentioned.

I didn't see any brown.
