Hello. I'm new to this forum and new to the (hobby?). How easy would it be to convert this telephone for modern day usage? I have been interested in doing this for quite some time but have never got round to looking at it.

The phone is a GPO UK Siemens Rotary Tel.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions please reply, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

Looks like a standard 300-type GPO phone (which hasn't been used by the GPO, of course), you should be able get plenty info from here:

Converting should be as per the GPO 300 series assuming it's all standard equipment inside... :)

I've managed to get a dial tone without modifying the innards. I connected the red and white wire to the black wire on the BT plug and the green to the yellow wire (I read about this on the internet somewhere) I cannot dial out though. The dial tone also disappears to a long, deep sounding beep until you hang up and pick up again.
