These have been listed on the forum over the years but they are all over the place. This topic will be a place to note those "barn fresh" phones either purchased or spotted for sale anywhere. Doesn't take much to describe what qualifies, just look at the first phone listed. This should become a slowly growing repository of very sad phones.

Post them as you find them here, when and wherever you find them, and if anyone actually buys one of them, before and after photos for the Notable Refurbs (Back from the Dead) topic are required.

I'll start the topic off with this two piece wall phone currently on eBay at $15.50 by way of 5 bids which only "needs some TLC!"

I've seen phones with a "Mother-in-Law Receiver" but that first one seems to have a "Mother-in-Law Transmitter"!

Had I been able to fins a AE34 in that condition and at a good price, it sure wouldn't look like that by the time I was done with it....

Timely topic.

This morning I got into work and there was a new barn-fresh AE 50 on my desk!  The boss's boss is in the process of getting his father in law into assisted living and was clearing out the old guy's garage.  The boss remembered I collect phones.

When I called him to thank him he asked me if it was any good or should he have just thrown it away.  It is in great shape.  The handset is a little worn and dull, but no cracks or chips.  I think it will clean up nicely.

Two days after it arrived, it didn't look like that any more....

Dave:
I am trying to remember, was the AE 34 from the guy in Oregon that got the load of AE phones from the Electronic Recycling Centre (Center for those south of the 49th) :)

Bill:
Does your handset have metal bands or grooved Bakelite "bands"? An earlier version of the AE 50 if the handset is original to it.

He worked for the Centre. Yes. It was the worst of the ones he had.... I got it for a good price, and with a brand new extensicord.... Cleaned up nicely.

Phonesrfun post another "barn fresh" phone in December of 2010 that is dirty enough to qualify for this topic.

And this "barn fresh" gem was found by Dennis Markham in March of 2013 and is well photographed, along with his restoration of the phone, in his Picasa Album. This phone is listed in the Notable Topic.
